Weaving weekends

Last weekend I was away in Ohakune with the weavers and today we gathered again to harvest and prep kiekie. Lot is work, lots of cups of tea and talk, information shared and Projects planned.

Projects on the go in Ohakune

Kiekie progressing.

And ready to spend several weeks following the sun. If I’ve done it right it will turn white.

And Today There Is Light

I got home today to this!  Light and a few twiddly bits that will go up next week.  But mainly light!

A Wall!

Well, there’s always been a wall but it’s now stuffed with insulation, gibbed, plastered and sanded. Last step is to put shirting, beading and picture rail back up. Then all I have to do is paint.

Quietly Productive

With this week off work I’m focussing on The Shed. The outside is part way to being Black Bean instead of raw pine...
And all, or close to it, of my weaving kit and supplies and The Stash have migrated to their new home.

Almost There

There have been delays and they are still not completely finished but the window frames went in yesterday and the insulation is done. Everyone involved is rightly chuffed including my next door neighbour who’s niece knows my builder because it’s New Zealand and 2 degrees of separation is totally a thing.

Normal Service Resumes

This appeared yesterday and I’m pleased to report that at some point between lunch time and going home today the wind has been fixed. Only in Wellington!

Windows

This week preparation has begun for new windows in the living/dining room. The main excitement so far has been getting so see the underlying structure of the house which, to my great relief, is in perfect nick. As you can see I’m also going to get insulation.
This is what was under the gib in the original part of the house.

And wiring for the heat pump that was on the outside is now on the inside.
