Womading

Last night it bucketed down. Today the maunga has a covering of snow and it’s a glorious day for music, health food and a beer, or a health drink and tempura mushrooms depending on your point of view.

Egg Day

After doing a diary check and some careful calculations today has been designated as the day for making Easter eggs.

So Close!

A month ago we hit the half way mark on the first join on our big weaving project. Today I ran out of puff but we are thiiis close to done.

It doesn’t look like much but that little stretch will probably take a few hours tomorrow. Then only 13 more to do, luckily each one gets smaller and theoretically we will get faster with more practice.

The Hoard

Today is the Petone fair! As is tradition I walk the length of Jackson St and back, support local makers, buy dumplings for lunch and then spend the afternoon recovering.

Lots of wonderful stuff this year but not sharing too much detail as a fair few things are birthday presents.

Trust Me

Our usual Waitangi Day activities in town didn’t happen this year but a few of us got together anyway and we reached a small milestone. We are half way through the first hono/join on our rā/sail!  It’s a long, slow process as adding each extension is a 15 step process and there are 250 strands (I think) but we’re getting our groove on and it’s amazing to see progress.

Unexpected

On my way to an appointment yesterday I spotted these beauties. No idea what exactly was happening but not your usual parliamentary sighting.
