Relaxing

This is obviously the only reason I have my weaving set up (on the ironing board) in the living room.

Also note in the background my attempt to not have a diet consisting entirely of hot cross buns this weekend. That’s avocado on toast in case you can’t make it out.

Huihuinga

Gathering. That’s what 80ish Māori staff from work have been doing for the last 3 days up in Tūrangi at the southern end of Lake Taupō. Marae stays are always great and this time included a trip out on the water with a mid-lake boat swap thrown in for added fun.

Our focus was wellbeing so there was lots of learning disguised as waiata, games and other fun activities as well as the sharing of history, stories of ancestors the land and planning for the future.

DIY Womad

This weekend I would usually be at Womad but sadly it’s fallen victim to COVID this year. So, to keep the spirit going I’ve DIY’d one of my favourite parts-the food. So here, thanks to local suppliers, we have curry and pink beer!

To make it a productive day there was also baking which I really should not have done wearing black

All Set Up

I worked from home yesterday morning. Not unremarkable in itself but it’s the first time with the full setup: proper desk, proper chair, two screens (three if you count the laptop). ‘Tech support’ also settled in once I’d stopped her walking all over the keyboard.

And yes, that is a second laptop because it was also a bit of a life admin day.

Loving Local

Thanks to a declaration of Level 1 and no gathering restrictions the Petone Fair was full steam ahead on Saturday.

A fabulous day and a few treats came home with me too.

Spa Day

Not for me, for Poppy. Nails done, coat groomed, so far so good but also blood tests and booster shots. As a lady of advancing years it’s become easier on everyone to get some things (like dreadlock removal) done by the professionals and sleepy pills help too. For me it was a work from home day with lots of ‘supervising’ from Huia. And at the end of it we were all exhausted and one of us was probably still a bit drugged up.

Just Chill’n

It’s the Waitangi long weekend so yesterday was spent in at the Wharewaka.

Plans for the rest of the weekend?  Just chill’n.
