Trust Me

Our usual Waitangi Day activities in town didn’t happen this year but a few of us got together anyway and we reached a small milestone. We are half way through the first hono/join on our rā/sail!  It’s a long, slow process as adding each extension is a 15 step process and there are 250 strands (I think) but we’re getting our groove on and it’s amazing to see progress.

Unexpected

On my way to an appointment yesterday I spotted these beauties. No idea what exactly was happening but not your usual parliamentary sighting.

Weavers Away

Last weekend was our now annual weavers long weekend away. We took over the library at Ohakune college and wove up a storm.

And because food and weaving don’t mix the library work room became a snack kitchen!

Resolution

I will not keep nice boxes just in case and especially not just because. They will go in the recycling as soon as possible. Same for nice packing material.

Sticking to it so far but we’ll see how that goes, old habits are hard to break.

Quiet Start

An enforced quiet start to the year. After a lovely quiet Christmas with family I picked up Covid on the way home. Best excuse ever for avoiding chores and watching too much daytime television.

Prep Underway

It’s beginning to feel a bit like Christmas.

Aloha

No update for the last couple of weeks as I was at a conference in Hawai’i. 200 indigenous librarians gathered for the first time in four years and it was amazing. We started in the Waimea Valley before three very full days at the University of Hawai’i.

And because we got there a couple of days early there was also some beach time and shopping.

If you look closely you’ll see that this amazing sculpture is made of jelly beans!
